OAKLAND, Calif. – Former BYU basketball star Jimmer Fredette is getting another shot in the NBA. This time it’s for the Golden State Warriors summer league team.
Warriors assistant general manager Larry Harris was on 95.7 The Game in the Bay Area and confirmed that Jimmer would be playing for the Dubs summer league squad.

This move would indicate that the Phoenix Suns did not pick up the team option on the second-year of Fredette’s contract with the Suns.
Last season, Fredette appeared in six games averaging 3.8 points per game on 27-percent from the field in 10.8 minutes per game with the Suns.
Fredette and the Summer League Warriors begin to play on July 1st in California Classic. Then they travel to Las Vegas to participate in the NBA Summer League which goes from July 5th to the 15th.
Summer League is usually a proving ground for rookies and second-year players in the league. Last time Jimmer participated in the NBA Summer League was in 2016 with the Denver Nuggets summer squad. After that summer performance with the Nuggets, Jimmer signed a contract with the Shanghai Sharks in China.
The Warriors who will look to sign injured superstars Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson to max free agent contracts will need cheap, affordable options to round out their bench for the 2019-20 season. Jimmer could possibly fill that for Golden State if he performs well in summer league.
