PROVO, Utah – The BYU football program has been receiving a lot of great news on the recruiting trail.  The good news continued to pile on Thursday night as BYU received a commitment from junior college offensive lineman Rocky Aitogi from Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.

Aitogi is a massive human being.  Checking in at 6’7” 354 pounds, Aitogi had an official visit to Provo with his wife and child earlier this month.  The visit to BYU won him over with the schools and the coaches.

A native of Kona, Hawaii, Aitogi has one year remaining at Fort Scott Community College and then he plans to enroll at BYU this January.

BYU now has 13 commitments in the class of 2020.

Last December, Aitogi signed with the University of New Mexico and was expected to compete for the Lobos.  He then asked to be released from his letter of intent this past April and opened up his recruitment.

At one point, Aitogi was committed to the Arizona Wildcats in the Pac-12 conference.

Aitogi has had an interesting path to college football and the sport of football in general.

The junior college standout didn’t play football until the 2018 football season.  Prior to playing football at Fort Scott, Aitogi was a member of the national guard.  After his military service, he was serving as a body guard for rapper Lil Pump.

In 2020, Aitogi will help provide protection to BYU’s quarterbacks.
