SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Since the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans to join LeBron James and the Lakers, the organization is still reportedly interested in Utah Jazz big man Derrick Favors.
It’s all up to the Jazz on whether Favors will become a free agent this off-season or not as they hold his option for the 2019-20.
It is widely reported that if the Jazz do not exercise Favors’ contract, the Lakers will pursue the longtime NBA big man.

Lakers’ Trade For Davis Shows Kuzma’s High Value
Favors increased his value during the Playoffs against the Houston Rockets as he was a big factor defensively and helped the Jazz on the offensive end in the five-game series. He averaged a career-best 11.8 points to go with his 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game during the postseason. This past regular season, Favors posted exactly identical averages in points and rebounds.
His health has improved over the last two seasons, missing 11 games between the two years.

Favors will without a doubt make the Lakers better and will be an upgrade from who they had starting at center last season in JaVale McGee. It would work with Anthony Davis as well with LeBron James starting at small forward, Davis at power forward and Favors at center and providing depth off the bench with former Ute Kyle Kuzma.
Vice president of basketball operations Dennis Lindsey has said that Favors is a part of the solution and not the problem.
