Utah Royals Players Net Pair Of Assists In USA’s Blowout Win Over Thailand

DELAUNE, France – The U.S. women’s national team put on one of the most dominant performances of all time in a 13-0 victory over Thailand in the first game of pool play.
The top-ranked Americans set a new World Women’s Cup record for most goals scored in a game and greatest margin of victory with the enormous win. Alex Morgan had a record-tying five goals to lead the U.S. onslaught.
While neither of the Utah Royals’ representatives found the back of the net, both Kelley O’Hara and Christen Press had assists in the blowout win.
O’Hara helped to get the scoring started with a service that resulted in Morgan’s first goal, a header into the net to put the U.S. put 1-0 in the 12th minute.

Later, in the 74th minute, Press, who had been subbed into the game in the 57th minute, set another goal by Morgan with a little pass near the top of the box that Morgan buried to put the U.S. up 8-0.

The Royals’ third member of the U.S. squad, Becky Sauerbrunn, was held out of the match with a quad injury. According to the club, the decision was made as a precautionary measure.
The U.S. will next face Chile in the second game of group play on Sunday at 10 a.m.
