Dave Rose, Tyler Haws To Join Team Fredette In TBT

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU alumni will represent Team Fredette in “The Basketball Tournament” also known as “TBT.” The team was created by former BYU star and current Phoenix Suns guard Jimmer Fredette.

The tournament is in it’s fifth season that features 64-teams compiled by former NBA players, former college basketball stars and players that are playing professionally overseas. Current college basketball or NBA players are ineligible to play, but can coach.

Because Fredette is still under contract with the Phoenix Suns, he cannot play in TBT. He led them to the TBT semifinals, just one win away from the championship game. The winning team will receive $2 million.

Team Fredette announced that former BYU coach Dave Rose will coach Team Fredette in TBT. They will host a regional from July 25-27 at the Maverik Center. Rose just recently retired as the BYU head basketball coach.

They also announced that Tyler Haws will be on the team. He is currently playing for Huesca in league LEB Oro.

Other Team Members

Each team has a general manager and a coach. Dan Britten and Jimmer’s brother T.J. are co-GM’s. Former New Mexico guard Darington Hobson, former Iona and Northwood guard and White Plains, New York native Ra’Shad James, former Bowling Green guard Jordan Crawford, former Coastal Carolina guard E.J. Gallup, former University of Houston guard Rob Gray, Xavier alum Tu Holloway and former University of Idaho guard Jeff Ledbetter.

Also on the roster is North Carolina Central alum Jordan Parks, former University of Houston forward Devonta Pollard, Southern Illinois alum Jamaal Tatum and La Salle alum Steve Zack.

Three Other Local Teams Hoping To Participate

In each regional, seven other teams hope to make the final bracket based off of fan vote. Three other teams with Utah ties is hoping to have their name called on June 11.

Bryan Tracy – Weber State alum is the GM created Utah Valor that has former Weber State guard Davion Berry, former Bethesda Christian forward Buddha Boyd, former Utah women’s basketball star Megan Huff among others.

Team Utah is filled with former Utes and is ran by former Ute and Olympus High School star Shaun Green, who has picked up former Utes Tim Drisdom, Justin Hawkins and Dakari Tucker. Former Utah Valley and Jazz guard Ronnie Price, former Wolverine Akolda Manyang, Weber State alum Nick Covington and Cal Poly forward Terrance Drisdom as well as former Jackson State forward Brandon West. Team Utah made their first appearance in TBT in 2016.

Utah Stallions is ran by former Utah State forward Sean Harris and has brought in fellow Aggie alums Danny Berger, Spencer Butterfield, Preston Medlin and Jordan Stone. Former Utes Tyler Rawson and Parker Van Dyke are on the team as well as former UNC Asheville center Jaleel Roberts and Adams State point guard Brandon Sly.
