SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – BYU alumni will represent Team Fredette in “The Basketball Tournament” also known as “TBT.” The team was created by former BYU star and current Phoenix Suns guard Jimmer Fredette.
The tournament is in it’s fifth season that features 64-teams compiled by former NBA players, former college basketball stars and players that are playing professionally overseas. Current college basketball or NBA players are ineligible to play, but can coach.
Because Fredette is still under contract with the Phoenix Suns, he cannot play in TBT. He led them to the TBT semifinals, just one win away from the championship game. The winning team will receive $2 million.
Team Fredette announced that former BYU coach Dave Rose will coach Team Fredette in TBT. They will host a regional from July 25-27 at the Maverik Center. Rose just recently retired as the BYU head basketball coach.
They also announced that Tyler Haws will be on the team. He is currently playing for Huesca in league LEB Oro.
