PROVO – He’s back, Yoeli Childs is returning to Brigham Young University for his senior year.
The rising senior announced ahead of the NBA draft withdrawal deadline which was to be Wednesday at 10 p.m.
“Cougar Nation, just wanted to let you know I’m coming back for my senior year. Let’s make some magic happen,” Childs announced via Twitter.
As a junior, Childs averaged 21.2 points per game, and 9.7 rebounds per game earning first team All-WCC honors for the second year in a row. Childs led the WCC in scoring at 20.7 points per game and was second in rebounds at 9.5 per game. He also was named to the All-WCC Freshman team during the 2016-17 season.

One of the most prolific low post players in program history, through his junior season, Childs is 14th in career scoring, fifth in rebounding, third in blocks, and tied for third in double-doubles.
It is the second season Childs has explored early entry into the NBA draft. This year, Childs scheduled workouts with the Sacramento Kings and Memphis Grizzlies, but notably did not receive an invitation to the NBA combine.
Childs’ return fills a major void for the Cougar front court that would have returned just two players with game experience.
