LOGAN, Utah – Athlon Sports released their 2019 preseason All-Mountain West teams and Utah State has 12 players on the lists.

The Aggies had four offensive players, five defensive players and three specialists named to the publications list.

Seven players from Utah State were listed on the first team preseason projections.

First Team

Running back Gerold Bright, defensive end Tipa Galeai, cornerback D.J. Williams, quarterback Jordan Love, punt returner Jordan Nathan, kickoff returner Savon Scarver and linebacker David Woodward were all named to the first team on the preseason All-Mountain West squad.

Bright played in all 13 games last season as a junior and rushed for 888 yards and 10 touchdowns. He caught 22 passes for 232 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Galeai was named second team All-MWC last season after finishing fifth in tackles with 64 and led the Aggies with 10.5 sacks and 14 tackles for loss.

Williams was an conference honorable mention last season after he racked up 42 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss, 11 pass breakups, 4 interceptions and a forced fumble.

Love was named second team All-MWC after a fantastic sophomore season. He passed for 3,567 yards and 32 touchdowns and set five school records.

Scarver was a consensus All-American and just the third Aggie to do so. He had three kickoff returns that he ran back for touchdowns, which is second all-time in school history. Scarver has 48 career kickoffs for 1,367 yards.

Woodward had a breakout sophomore season with 134 tackles, 5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles and 2 interceptions.

Unga was named All-MWC honorable mention last season as he started 12 games. He ended the 2018 campaign with 31 tackles, 0.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Phil Steele named Nathan a second team All-Mountain West honoree as a punt returner. He returned 20 punts for 166 yards and one touchdown. As a wide receiver, he made six starts and collected 28 receptions for 297 yards and 3 touchdowns.
