UCLA Blanks Weber State In First Game Of NCAA Regionals

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Facing the No. 2 team in the country, the Weber State softball team was on the losing end of a 6-0 victory by UCLA in the Wildcats’ first game of the NCAA Regionals.
For the Bruins, pitchers Rachel Garcia and Holly Azevedo not only combined for the shutout victory, but also earned a no-hitter against Weber State.
While they weren’t getting hits, the Wildcats hung tough with one of the best programs of the nation, trailing just 2-0 going into the fifth inning.

UCLA however, put some additional distance between itself and the Wildcats by scoring four runs on six hits in the sixth inning. In that inning, Wildcat pitcher Tatiana Su’esu’e had a tough go of it, allowing all four of those runs in her single inning of work.
Weber State did manage to put a pair of runners on base due to UCLA fielding errors, but was unable to bring either of them home.
The Wildcats now move to the elimination bracket where they will face Cal State Fullerton with their season on the line on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
