BYU Ties For Most Track & Field Entrants In NCAA West Preliminaries

PROVO, Utah – The BYU track and field team will send 58 student athletes to the NCAA West Preliminaries next week in Sacramento, California.
The Cougar men tied with UCLA for the most male entries with 34 while the women’s total of 24 was the sixth highest among females. The number of entries is also tied for a program-high.
Going into the meet, the No. 4-ranked men’s side boasts the top-ranked 3,000-meter steeplechase and 10,000-meter relay squads. The team will also field some of the top-seeds in the prelims in Connor McMillan, Rory Linkletter and Conner Mantz, the No. 1, 2, and 3 seeds in the 10,000-meter race.

The No. 11-ranked women’s team finished the regular season with the best squad sin the 800-meter, 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter events. They’ll have several highly-seeded athletes in Andrea Stapleton-Johnson, the top seed in the high jump, Lauren Ellsworth-Barnes, the second seed in the 800-meter and Brenna Porter, the fourth seed in the 400-meter hurdles.
The meet will take place May 23-24 at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State University.
