BYU Softball Earns Multiple WCC Awards

PROVO, Utah – The BYU Softball team capped their successful regular season with three players earning top awards in the West Coast Conference and seven players being named to All-WCC teams.

Lexi Tarrow was named West Coast Conference Player of the Year. She is the fifth straight BYU player to receive the conference Player of the Year award. Tarrow recorded the top batting average in the conference with .488 and had 21 hits, 12 runs, 3 doubles, 2 triples and one home run to go with eight RBI’s and a .721 slugging percentage.

Arissa Paulson became BYU’s fourth consecutive player to earn WCC Pitcher of the Year. She missed last season due to injury, but she recorded a 7-2 record this season to go with a 1.51 ERA. Paulson pitched 55.2 innings with 41 strikeouts and a career-high 11 against Loyola Marymount.

Erin Miklus took home the WCC Defensive Player of the Year. The second-baseman had a perfect fielding percentage during WCC games with 15 putouts, 18 assists and one double play.

Pacific freshman Jessica Mabrey was named WCC Freshman of the Year and LMU’s Sami Strinz-Ward was named the conference Coach of the Year to round out the five major conference awards.

Along with their individual awards, the BYU trio was also named to the All-WCC first team. Shortstop Marissa Chavez, outfielder Rylee Jensen and pitcher Autumn Moffat were also named to the first team.

Catcher Libby Sugg was the lone BYU player to be named to the second team and Taylei Williams was listed as an honorable mention.

BYU will face Oklahoma State in the first round of the NCAA Stillwater Regionals on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN3.
