BYU’s Brenna Porter Sets New School Record At BYU Invitational

PROVO, Utah – BYU’s Brenna Porter broke a 20-year old school record with her performance in the 400-meter hurdles at the BYU Invitational on Thursday.
With a time of 56.89 seconds, Porter’s mark on Thursday bested Julie Bennion’s time of 57.08 that was set in 1999.
It’s the fourth school record of Porter’s career at BYU. She also holds the top mark in the indoor 500-meter and was a member of the program’s best showing in the distance medley and the indoor 4×400-meter relay team.

The senior from Logan was honored earlier this season as an All-American for her contribution to the BYU’s distance medley team, which finished second at the 2019 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Also of note, her teammate Kaitlyn Gunnerson-Burrup also ran well in the 400-meter hurdles on Thursday, clocking in at a time of 59.84, a personal best, to qualify for the NCAA West Prelims.
