Johnson Scores To Even Score Against Portland

SANDY, Utah – Real Salt Lake striker Sam Johnson is officially red hot after scoring his third goal in just five appearances in the starting lineup. His goal in the 63rd minute of the match against the Portland Timbers tied the match up at 1-1.
After some ticky-tack play near the top of the attacking box, RSL finally got on the scoreboard when a deflected ball squeaked past Portland’s back line.
Johnson had narrow window of opportunity and buried the shot to re-energize the crowd at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Acquired by RSL during the offseason, Johnson has proven to be a solid addition to the club. His three goals on the season is just behind Albert Rusnak’s team-leading four goals.
RSL went into the match against Portland, without its two biggest names, Nick Rimando and Kyle Beckerman, who were held out due to injury.
Portland struck first in the match with a goal by Sebastain Blanco in the 34th minute.
