Mitchell Bounces Back With Career High Tying Night

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – In front of a sellout crowd in the final home game of the regular season, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell had one of the best nights of his career with 46 points.

In what may have been the most complete scoring game of his young two-year tenure as a pro, Mitchell was locked in for all four quarters.

He started the game with 17 points in the opening period, added 10 in the second, had 13 in the third and then chipped in six more in the fourth to tie his career high.

He previously set the scoring mark in Utah’s 115-111 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on March 2.

Thanks to Mitchell’s strong game, along with double-doubles by Rudy Gobert and Joe Ingles helped Utah collect its 50^th win of the season in a 118-108 victory over Denver.

Snyder Speaks Sternly, Mitchell Responds

According to head coach Quin Snyder, Mitchell’s big night had a lot to do with how he responded after a disappointing loss against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

Following the Jazz’s loss in L.A., Snyder had a stern conversation with the whole team, where he called out Mitchell and Gobert, specifically.

“When you have a good team, for a coach and for a coaching staff, when you have two players like Donovan and Rudy,that allow themselves to be coached, you can say sometimes things that are uncomfortable,” said Snyder after the game.

“Those guys tonight responded,” added Snyder.

Mitchell agreed with his coach’s remarks after the game.

“We didn’t show up in L.A.,” said Mitchell. “We needed that. We both respond when Quin gets after us and it shows that our coach cares and I appreciate that. I think we all do.”
