Wildcats Blown Out By Montana In Big Sky Semifinals

BOISE, Idaho – The Weber State Wildcats’ season came to an end with a 78-49 loss to Montana in the semifinals of the Big Sky Conference tournament.

In a completely dominating performance, the Grizzlies manhandled Weber State, leading by 37 at one point in the second half.

It didn’t take long for the game to get out of hand in Montana’s favor. The Grizzlies built a lead as large as 22 in the first half while shooting 56.7 percent from the field. In contrast, the Wildcats shot just 32.1 percent of their attempts in the opening period.

The game continued to go Montana’s way all night. In the contest, the Grizzlies shot a solid 47.5 percent from the field with 10 triples made. Weber State ended up converting on just 31.5 percent of their attempts and went a miserable 5-for-21 from beyond the arc.

Brekkott Chapman led the Wildcats with 16 points.

Montana’s Ahmaad Rorie was the game’s high scorer with 28 points.

In the game, Weber State center Zach Braxton surpassed the century mark for career blocks, becoming just the sixth player in the program’s history to reach 100 blocks.

Montana will move on to play the winner of Southern Utah and Eastern Washington in the conference championship game on Saturday.

The Wildcats will finish their season with a record of 18-14 overall with an 11-9 mark in conference play. They will miss out on playing in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year.
