Shots Fall For UVU In Second Half In Victory Over UT-RGV

EDINBURG, Texas – After falling to New Mexico State on Thursday, Utah Valley responded with a 76-64 victory over UT-Rio Grande Valley.
With the win, the Wolverines moved to 17-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play.
Wolverines Shoot Better In Second Half
The Wolverines struggled to put the ball in the basket, especially from deep. At the end of the first half, Utah Valley had made just 1-of-12 from 3-point land.
At the break, the Vaqueros led by a slim 3-point margin at 31-28.

In the second half, the shorts finally started falling for Utah Valley.
The Wolverines made 5-of-7 attempt from beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes. They ended up having more made 3-pointers than the Vaqueros managed to make in the entire game. UT-Rio Grande Valley drained just 3-of-16 attempts from downtown in the contest.
After a slow start in which he scored just six points in the first half, Jake Toolson played a much better second half and finished with 17 points for the game.
Lesley Varner II led the Vaqueros with 15 points.

The Wolverines will return home to play Chicago State on Thursday at 7 p.m. Utah Valley previously defeated the Cougars 74-60 on Jan. 26.
