BYU Hires Eric Mateos As O-Line Coach

PROVO, Utah – The BYU football program has announced the hiring of Eric Mateos as the offensive line coach.
Mateos comes to the program already well acquainted with offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes. He previously worked for Grimes as a graduate assistant when the latter was the offensive line coach at LSU in 2016.

“Eric is a great person with quality character that will fit in phenomenally with our players and staff,” Grimes said in a press release. “He will take our young group a step further and is a master at building confidence and group cohesiveness. I know our players will really respond well to him.”
Following that season at LSU, where he finished the season as the Tigers’ tight ends coach, Mateos moved on to Texas State, where he produced an All-Sun Belt offensive lineman in each of his two years with the Bobcats.
The Cougars will kick off the 2019 season against Utah on Aug. 29.
