SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Jazz handed the Phoenix Suns their 12-straight loss in a 116-88 Jazz win.

It was a homecoming of sorts for Phoenix head coach Igor Kokoskov, who served as an assistant on Quin Snyder’s staff from 2015-17.

The Suns were without their star player, Devin Booker, who was ruled out before the game with right hamstring tightness.

Jazz Block Out Suns In Fourth Quarter

Led by 10 first quarter points by Jae Crowder, the Jazz took a slight 30-24 lead after the opening period.

The Suns were ice cold to start the second quarter as the Jazz held them without a point for the first four minutes of the period. While doing so, the Jazz built a 17-point lead. Finally, the lid came off the basket for Phoenix and the Suns were able to cut the Jazz lead to just seven. Ultimately, the Jazz took a 10-point lead into the halftime break.

In the third quarter, the Suns were able to overcome eight turnovers to outscore the Jazz 25-23 and whittle Utah’s lead to just four with a minute remaining in the period.

The fourth quarter however, belonged to Utah as they rolled to a 28-point win over a vastly inferior opponent.

By The Numbers

Seven Jazzmen finished in double figures in the big win. Two of Utah’s starters, Joe Ingles and Rudy Gobert, turned in double-doubles. For Ingles, it was sixth double-double of his career as he dished out a career-high 11 assists to go along with 15 points.

Royce O’Neale also had a strong game, coming off the bench and scooping in 15 points with three made 3-pointers.

Next Up

The Jazz will have a few days off to rest before hosting the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday. The game will tip off early, at 3 p.m. and be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet.
