Red Rocks Win Fifth Straight With Victory Over Arizona

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 4-ranked University of Utah gymnastics team won its fifth straight meet to open the season with a 197.075-195.400 victory over Arizona.
The Red Rocks placed a gymnast at the top of the podium in each event with MaKenna Merrell-Giles taking the overall title in the victory over the Wildcats. Kari Lee was right behind in second place while Arizona’s Maddi Leydin finished third.

Merrell-Giles also tied MyKayla Skinner for the top spot in the bars event. Alexia Burch was the winner on the vault, Lee took the beam event and Adrienne Randall won on the floor event.
Utah’s all-around superstar, Skinner, was given the night off on the floor event and thus was not in contention for the all-around title.

The Red Rocks will next host Cal on Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. The meet will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
