PROVO, Utah – It was a lopsided affair in BYU’s 93-63 loss to No. 4-ranked Gonzaga.
BYU has enjoyed some history of upsetting Gonzaga on occasion. In 2017, the Cougars defeated the unbeaten, No. 1-ranked Bulldogs on the road. This time around, at the Marriott Center, there would be no such magic as Gonzaga rolled to an easy win.

Out Of Hand Quickly
The Cougars opened the game by scoring the first three points, but in the blink of an eye, Gonzaga’s lead was 13 at 19-6 with 13:15 remaining in the first half.
With two minutes remaining in the first period, the Zags built their largest lead at 21 on a dunk by Rui Hachimura. At the break, Hachimura already had 11 points with teammate Zach Norvell Jr. close behind with 10 points.

The Zags’ defense was stifling in the first half, holding BYU to just 9-of-33 shooting with only two assists. Meanwhile Gonzaga drained 18-of-35 in the opening 20 minutes. Gonzaga led 41-24.
The second half was not competitive as the Bulldogs led by about 20 almost the entire period. It would have been a 32-point victory, but Kolby Lee’s made jumper with 11 seconds remaining made it just a 30-point win for Gonzaga.
It was the 28th straight conference road win for the Bulldogs.
By The Numbers
Gonzaga’s Brandon Clarke was the game’s high scorer with 23 points while Hachimura finished with 20.
TJ Haws led the Cougars with 16 points. Yoeli Childs turned in 12 points.
