Star gymnast McKayla Skinner picked up the all-around win as well as the victory in the beams event while tying for first on the bars with teammate Missy Reinstadtler.
At first co-head coach Tom Farden was considering not having Skinner compete in the floor event. However, the Ute All-American was able to persuade her coach into letting her go for the all-around title.
“We want to give MyKayla a needed rest, but she is just a competitor,” said Farden. “We’re getting a lot of kids experience in competition, which combined with three straight road meets, is going to help us in the end since the entire postseason is on the road.”
