SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah Women’s Basketball Team took care of the Cal Golden Bears 87-74, despite a slow start in the first quarter. Their 17-1 record gives them their best start in program history.

Megan Huff had 24 points and 7 rebounds to lead Utah, Kiana Moore chipped in 18 points and 7 boards.

Kristine Anigwe dropped 24 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Golden Bears.

Moore, Edwards Carry Utah Past Slow Start

The Utes had an early 12-6 deficit in the first 4 minutes of the first quarter but that lead didn’t last long when Utah took a 16-14 advantage on a 10-2 run with 3 minutes left in the quarter.

Utah had a 23-18 lead at the end of the first quarter. Dre’Una Edwards had 8 points to lead the Utes.

The Utes took off in the second quarter with a 14-6 run and had their biggest lead of the game, 37-24 with 6 minutes left in the second.

Cal answered with a 12-7 run of their own with Utah holding a 44-36 halftime lead. Kiana Moore was already in double figures after the first half with 12 points and Edwards was up to 11 points.

The Utes coasted in the second half, keeping the Golden Bears at arm’s length by outscoring Cal 43-38 in the second half to pick up their fifth straight win.
