Six Locals To Play For Trip To Super Bowl

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Only four NFL teams remain in the postseason with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

Before the weekend, 11 local players’ seasons were still alive. Now there is only six players left in the playoffs, one former Ute, one former Aggie, three former Cougars and one former high school standout.

Also, former BYU alum and Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid will lead his team into the AFC Championship for the first time in 25 years.

Here is how the locals did in the NFL during the Divisional round of the Playoffs.

Former Utes

Sam Tevi – Los Angeles Chargers (12-4)
Tevi started at right tackle in the Chargers’ 41-28 loss to the New England Patriots.
The Chargers’ season is over, Tevi started every game except for Week One. The former Ute has two years left on his rookie contract.

Marcus Williams – New Orleans Saints (13-3)
Williams had two tackles in the Saints’ 20-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles

Former Aggies

JoJo Natson – Los Angeles Rams (13-3)
Natson had two punt returns for 12 yards in the Rams’ 30-22 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Former Cougars

Michael Davis – Los Angeles Chargers (12-4)
In the Chargers’ 41-28 loss to the New England Patriots, Davis had five tackles, including three solo take-downs.
The Chargers’ season is over, Davis finished the year with 45 solo and 57 total tackles, 2 forced fumbles and 10 pass deflections. The former Cougar has one more season left on his current contract.

Taysom Hill – New Orleans Saints (13-3)
Hill had two carries for eight yards, including a rush on fourth down in the Saints’ 20-14 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Daniel Sorensen – Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)
Sorensen had three tackles in the Chiefs’ 31-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Kyle Van Noy – New England Patriots (11-5)
Van Noy collected four tackles and one pass deflection in the Patriots’ 41-28 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
NEXT UP: AFC Championship at Kansas City Chiefs (12-4), Sunday at 4:40 p.m. on CBS.

Former High School Standouts

Marcus Kemp – Kansas City Chiefs (12-4)
The former Layton High School star didn’t record any stats in the Chiefs’ 31-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
NEXT UP: AFC Championship vs. New England Patriots (11-5), Sunday at 4:40 p.m. on CBS.

Haloti Ngata – Philadelphia Eagles (9-7)
The former Highland High School star had two tackles in the Eagles’ 20-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
The Eagles’ season is over, Ngata finished with 19 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 sack, 1 pass deflection. He will be a free agent during the off-season.

Dalton Schultz – Dallas Cowboys (10-6)
The Bingham High School product started at tight end and hauled in one catch for 20 yards in the Cowboys’ 30-22 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
The Cowboys’ season is over, Schultz finished with 13 catches for 136 yards this season. He has three more years left on his rookie contract.

Xavier Su’a-Filo – Dallas Cowboys (10-6)
The former Timpview product did not play in the Cowboys’ 30-22 loss to the Los Angeles Rams due to an ankle injury.
The Cowboys’ season is over, Su’a-Filo started in eight games for Dallas this season. He has one more season left on his current contract.
