Reports Say Hardnett To Transfer From BYU

PROVO, Utah – According to multiple reports, BYU guard Jahshire Hardnett has decided to transfer from the program.

The move comes on the heels of the Cougars’ loss to Saint Mary’s, a game in which he played just five minutes. Following the loss, Hardnett reportedly skipped both practice and a team meeting.

Jahshire Hardnett has scored in double figures in three of his last four games. He is second to TJ Haws in FT% at 82.0, and has made 28 of 31 FTs in BYU wins. ‘Shire leads BYU in steals, and is productive when driving; he is shooting 53% on his 2PFGA.

Prior to BYU’s conference opening games at Pacific and Saint Mary’s, Hardnett had started every game. For the season, he averaged 10.9 points per game with 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists. In three of the last four games he played, he scored in double figures.

Hardnett arrived at BYU as a transfer from Chipola College, a junior college in Florida prior to the 2017-18 season. He came to the university despite not being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The program had not yet made an announcement on Hardnett at the time of publication.
