SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Without Donovan Mitchell for the second straight game, the Utah Jazz lost an ugly game to the Indiana Pacers, 121-88.

The Jazz were without Mitchell, but the Pacers played without their star guard as well. Victor Oladipo was ruled out with a sore knee.

The Pacers took a 33-25 lead after the first quarter thanks to a large number of turnovers by Utah. The Jazz committed six giveaways that the Pacers scored 11 points on to take the early advantage.

Utah tightened the screws and didn’t allow any points off three turnover in the second quarter, but the Pacers still took a 58-47 advantage into the break.

Indiana extended its lead in the third with 10 points apiece from Darren Collison and Myles Turner and after an uneventful fourth quarter, the Pacers secured the 33-point victory.

By The Numbers

Only three Jazzmen finished in double-figures. Derrick Favors, who was back in the starting lineup, picked up 13 points to lead the Jazz in scoring. Rudy Gobert added 12 points while Joe Ingles contributed 10 points.

The Jazz’s bench was severely outscored by Indiana’s as the Pacers reserves racked up 62 points to just 39 points by the Jazz’s reserves.

‘We Have To Keep Working’

“I think in any situation we need to keep working,” said Jazz head coach Quin Snyder after the game. “We all expect more from ourselves, our guys are competing, they care. We have to keep working, there’s no magic. When you have a game like we did tonight, you look at it, you learn from it and try to get better the next time out.”

Next Up

The Jazz will hit the road for a three-game road trip starting Wednesday with a trip to Brooklyn. The game against the Nets will be broadcast on AT&T SportsNet.
