Utes Make It Rain From 3 In Win Over Mississippi Valley State

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – It was nearly a record-setting night for the Utah Utes in a 98-63 win over Mississippi Valley State.
The Utes tied a school record for 3-pointers made while shooting 47.2 percent from beyond the field. From the field, the red-hot shooting Utes shot 61.1 percent.

Five Utes finished in double figures as they nearly reached the century mark in scoring. Parker Van Dyke led the way with 16 points with four 3-pointers made. Timmy Allen also had four 3-pointers made and turned in 13 points. Donnie Tillman, Charles Jones Jr. and Riley Battin all had 12 points in the victory.

Tillman nearly had a double-double with nine rebounds and also dished out seven assists.
The Devils were led by Dante Scott, who finished the game with 18 points.
The Utes dominated when sharing the rock, racking up 23 assists to just 12 by the Devils. They were also sharp on the glass, outrebounding the Devils 44 to 33.
In contrast to the Utes’ hot shooting, Mississippi Valley State shot just 38.1 percent from the field and with 35.3 percent from beyond the arc.
The Utes will next compete in the Wooden Classic in Fullerton, Calif. Their first game of the tournament will be against Hawaii on Sept. 22 at 9:30 p.m.
