Weber State Running Back Josh Davis Named National Freshman Of The Week

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University announced that running back Josh Davis was awarded the National Freshman of the Week by STATS FCS after his performance in the Wildcats 31-18 win over Southern Utah.
He racked up a career-high 225 yards on 36 carries to go with two touchdowns against the Thunderbirds, earning the award for the second time this season.
Davis surpassed 200 yards rushing for the second time this season and the sixth time that he rushed for over 100 yards in a game. The Sandy, Utah native rushed over 1,000 yards on the season and has 1,160 rushing yards and eight touchdowns in 2018. That marks the most rushing yards in a season ever by a Weber State freshman.
The Alta High School graduate ranks second in the Big Sky Conference and fifth in FCS with 128.9 yards per game. He has been named to the Jerry Rice Award watch list that honors the nation’s top freshman.
No. 3 Weber State will play their regular season finale on Saturday in Pocatello against Idaho State at 2:30 p.m. on Pluto TV.
