Utah State Hopes For Fast Start Against San Jose State

LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State Aggies are off to a fast start with an 8-1 record. Their offense is a big part of that, jumping out to big leads in the opening quarter.
The Aggies are No. 19 in the country with 4,371 total yards of offense and No. 14 in yards per game with 486. Their 451 points scored this season is second in the nation behind Alabama’s 462. They average 50.1 points per game which is also the second best in college football.
Utah State head coach Matt Wells talked about how well his offense has been playing.
“You don’t ever sit around and imagine scoring this many points. We’re in a good rhythm, our guys are very confident in what we’re doing,” he added.
First Quarter Starts
In the last two games, wins over New Mexico and Hawaii, Utah State has held a 28-3 lead in both of those meetings after the first quarter.
Through the 2018 season, the Aggies have outscored their opponent 138-32 in the opening quarter of play.
San Jose State’s Offense
The Spartans have struggled this season, holding a 1-8 overall record. They have had a couple of close losses, they lost to Hawaii in five overtimes 44-41. Their loss to San Diego State by three points. San Jose State beat UNLV by 13 on October 27.
San Jose State has been outscored 69-30 in the first quarter of their games this season.
