Utah State Fans Excited; Aggies Back In Top 25

LOGAN, Utah – Fans of Utah State football are ecstatic as the Aggies cracked the AP Top 25 poll for the first time since 2012 and the second time since 1961. They went from unranked to No. 18 after a 61-19 win over New Mexico and seven teams dropping from the Top 25.

Utah State fans took to social media to express their excitement of the Aggies recent accomplishment.

Surprised To Be No. 18

Before Utah State beat New Mexico, they were not ranked. They received the second-most votes outside of the Top 25. 11 teams in the AP Top 25 lost over the weekend and the Aggies jumped up nine spots.

Utah State fan, Cole Nelson was surprised in his tweet that USU came in at No. 18 in the country.

Aaron Peck of the Herald Journal pointed out on Twitter, that Utah State was predicted to finish fourth in the Mountain Division in the preseason media poll.

Aggie fan Amy Farmer expressed her excitement on Facebook that Utah State jumped up in both the Coaches poll and the AP poll.

USU fan Michael Lundberg expected the Aggies to be ranked but didn’t think they would jump nine spots.

Aggies First Half Offensive Performance

In just two quarters of play, Utah State quarterback Jordan Love threw for 448 yards and four touchdowns. He didn’t play in the second half. That performance earned him the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week award. His fourth of the season. Utah State piled up 557 yards of total offense by halftime.

Jason Nelson was impressed as a fan with Love’s performance and showed it on Twitter.

In the previous game against Wyoming, the Aggies had only 194 yards of total offense but the defense and special teams lifted Utah State to the 24-16 win.

Utah State fan Nicholas Blackburn was pleased to see the offense back in rhythm and not having to rely on the defense.
