Locals In The NFL: Williams Stiff-Arms Sherman, Smith Leads Redskins To Victory

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Week 6 of the NFL season is in the books. There were thrilling upsets, heartbreaking losses in overtimes and loads of hard-hitting action. The Los Angeles Rams, with one former star from the Beehive State, remained undefeated as the other unbeaten team, the Kansas City Chiefs, were defeated by the New England Patriots. Here’s how the former college stars from NFL did on the pro grid iron this week:

Former Utes

Brian Allen – Steelers (3-2-1)
In his second game of the season, Allen appeared in 20 special teams snaps in the Steelers’ 28-21 win over the Bengals.

Tony Bergstrom – Redskins (3-2)
Bergstrom started at center and played all 70 offensive snaps in the Redskins’ 23-17 victory against the Panthers.

Garett Bolles – Broncos (2-4)
Bolles got the start at left tackle and played every snap in the Broncos’ 23-20 loss to the undefeated Rams.

Devontae Booker – Broncos (2-4)
The former Ute running back had two carries for 15 yards as well as two receptions for 14 yards in Denver’s 23-20 loss to the Rams.

Dominique Hatfield – Rams (6-0)
Hatfield was on the gridiron for 17 special teams snaps in the undefeated Rams’ win over Denver.

Star Lotulelei – Bills (2-4)
The defensive lineman took 28 defensive snaps and four special teams snaps in the Bills’ 20-13 loss to Houston.

Tim Patrick – Broncos (2-4)
Patrick was on the field for two offensive snaps and 16 special teams snaps in the Broncos’ loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Eric Rowe – Patriots (4-2)
Rowe made one solo tackle for the Patriots, which defeated the previously unbeaten Chiefs 43-40.

Alex Smith – Redskins (3-2)
Smith had a decent game, completing 21-for-36 attempts for 163 yards and two touchdowns in the Redskins’ 23-17 win over the Panthers.

Sam Tevi – Chargers (4-2)
Tevi started at right tackle and played every snap in the Chargers’ 38-14 win over the Browns.

Eric Weddle – Ravens (4-2)
Weddle was responsible for four tackles, two of which were unassisted, in the Ravens 21-0 shutout win over the Titans.

Former Aggies

Maurice Alexander – Seahawks (3-3)
The former Aggie safety was in on seven special teams plays in the Seahawks’ big 27-3 win over the Raiders in London.

Kyler Fackrell – Packers (3-2-1)
Fackrell made four solo tackles in the Packers’ thrilling 33-30 win against San Francisco on Monday Night Football.

Patrick Scales – Bears (3-2)
Scales was in on seven special teams snaps in the Bears’ overtime loss to the Dolphins.

Robert Turbin – Colts (1-5)
In his second game of the season, Turbin got his first touches of the season with four carries for 10 yards. He also had one catch for three yards in the Colts’ 42-34 loss to the New York Jets.

Zach Vigil – Redskins (3-2)
Vigil was in the game for 19 special teams snaps in the Redskins’ win over the Panthers.

Nick Vigil – Bengals (4-2)
Vigil made two assisted tackles in the Bengals 28-21 loss to Pittsburgh. He was forced to leave the game early with a sprained MCL in his knee and is expected to miss two to four weeks.

The #Bengals are expected to be without prolific LB Nick Vigil for about a month, source said, as he suffered a sprained MCL on Sunday. It came on a cut block in the first quarter.

Bobby Wagner – Seahawks (3-3)
In the Seahawks’ win across the pond, Wagner had four solo tackles and a pass deflection.

Larson got in on two special teams plays in the Panthers’ loss to the Redskins.

Michael Davis – Chargers (4-2)
The former Cougar safety made three solo tackles in the Chargers’ win over the Browns.

John Denney – Dolphins (4-2)
The longtime long snapper made nine special teams snaps in the Dolphins’ 31-28 win over the Bears.

Kyle Van Noy – Patriots (4-2)
Van Noy made one solo and two assisted tackles in the Patriots’ win over previously undefeated Kansas City.

Jamaal Williams – Packers (3-2-1)
Williams had six carries for 29 yards and one reception for the victorious Packers against the 49ers. He had a brutal stiff arm on San Francisco cornerback Richard Sherman that caught the attention of social media.
