LOGAN, Utah – The Utah State Aggies sent Tennessee Tech packing after a 73-12 beat down Thursday night at Maverik Stadium.

Although it ended up being a major blowout against an FCS opponent, the game began on a sour note for Utah State as they committed a fumble on the first play from scrimmage of the game. The Golden Eagles kicked a field goal to take an early 3-0 lead. However, for the rest of the game the night belonged to Utah State as they built an enormous advantage, scoring often and not allowing Tennessee Tech to more than a field goal each quarter.

Aggie quarterback Jordan Love, who played in just the first half, had a very accurate game completing 21-of-26 attempts for 236 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed for another score. As a team, the Aggies rolled to 621 yards of offense. The Aggie rushing committee had a strong night, scoring seven touchdowns on the ground. Utah State’s defense held the Golden Eagles to just 199 yards and without a touchdown.

Special Teams Came To Play

Utah State’s special teams had another stellar night as Dominik Eberle put up double-digit points for the second consecutive week with a field goal and seven extra points. Jordan Nathan returned a punt 59 yards to the house in the second quarter to highlight the scoring bonanza.

Short Week? No Problem.

Despite what the score indicated , the win for Utah State didn’t come easily as the Aggies had a short week of preparation playing on a Thursday.

“I’m proud of our team and our guys for their level of preparation this week,” said head coach Matt Wells after the game. “Plenty of praise to go around.”

Utah State will next play host to Air Force on Saturday September 22nd at Maverik Stadium.
