Jazz Forward Otto Porter Jr. Announces Retirement From NBA

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Jazz forward Otto Porter Jr. announced his retirement from professional basketball after playing 11 seasons in the NBA.

The Jazzman shared the news on Monday, March 11.
“For the past 11 years, I had the chance to live my lifelong dream of playing in the NBA,” Porter Jr. said in a statement. “That dream was capped by winning an NBA Championship! Unfortunately, my body is not allowing me to play at the level that I expect of myself, and I have therefore decided to retire.”

Porter Jr. joined the Jazz after he was traded from the Toronto Raptors in February.
After landing in Utah, Porter Jr. never stepped on the court for the Jazz and spent the last weeks of his career away from the team.
Otto Porter’s NBA career
After a standout college career at Georgetown, Porter Jr. was selected by the Washington Wizards with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft.
The forward played the first five and a half seasons of his NBA career with the Wizards before he was traded to the Chicago Bulls during the 2018-19 campaign. Porter Jr. was in the Windy City until the 2020-21 season when he joined the Magic. After his time in Chicago, Porter Jr. played for the Magic, Golden State Warriors, and Toronto Raptors. He helped the Warriors win the NBA title in 2022, his lone season with the team.
The forward joined Toronto in 2022 and only played 23 games for the Raptors over a season and a half.
Porter Jr. owns career averages of 10.3 points per game on 47.7 percent shooting, including 39.7 percent on three-pointers. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.4 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 25.4 minutes per contest. He played in 527 games and started 319 times.
