PROVO, Utah – BYU football will start Jake Retzlaff at quarterback for the third consecutive week. His challenge this week? Trying to pull off the upset against No. 14 Oklahoma.
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake told the Voice of the Cougars, Greg Wrubell, in their pregame conversation.
The junior college transfer signal-caller has completed 49.3% of his pass attempts in the last two starts while throwing for 314 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

He’s 0-2 in his first two career starts. BYU is currently in a three-game losing streak that dates back to October 28 at Texas in Austin.
Retzlaff has shown an ability to run during his previous starts. He is averaging 13.5 carries in his two appearances, rushing for 90 yards.
Kedon Slovis is available in emergency only
BYU’s season-opening starting quarterback Kedon Slovis continues to be out. He’s suited up for the game but is once again being termed as an “emergency only” option for the Cougars. Slovis is playing in his final home game of his collegiate career.
The former USC and Pitt quarterback arrived at BYU this past January, starting in eight consecutive games before being sidelined with injuries.
“I’m not in Kedon’s body,” said BYU head coach Kalani Sitake earlier this week. “But I can tell you that if he’s ready to go and if he’s full strength, then he’s our guy, usually.”
Slovis has passed for 1,716 yards, completed 57.5% of his passes and thrown 12 touchdowns to six interceptions in eight games.
