Julian Blackmon Helps Seal Colts’ Win Over Patriots In Germany With Late Pick

SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah Utes safety Julian Blackmon helped seal a big win for the Indianapolis Colts in Germany with a late interception of the New England Patriots.

With 4:24 remaining in the fourth quarter, Blackmon snatched a pass from Patriots quarterback Mac Jones as New England was threatening to score inside the red zone. The former Ute returned the ball four yards to the Indianapolis 5-yard line.
The Colts owned a 10-6 lead at the time of Blackmon’s pick.

After the interception, the Patriots benched Jones for their final possession of the game. In the final minute, the Colts picked off a pass by Bailey Zappe to seal the 10-6 victory.
Blackmon finished the game with four tackles, two pass breakups, and an interception. The safety entered the game with 62 total tackles, 43 solo tackles, three pass breakups, and two interceptions this season.

With the win, the Colts improved their record to 5-5 this season.
Indianapolis has a bye week in Week 11 of the season. The Colts’ next game is at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, November 26 at 11 a.m. (MT) on CBS and NFL Sunday Ticket.
About Julian Blackmon
Before his NFL career, Blackmon was a standout player at Layton High School. After his prep career with the Lancers, the safety played college football at the University of Utah from 2016-19.
During his time with the Utes, Blackmon recorded 60 total tackles, 41 solo tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, four interceptions, and four pass breakups in 48 games.
Following his Utah career, Blackmon was selected by the Colts with the No. 85 overall pick during the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Prior to Week 10, Blackmon had 188 total tackles, 141 solo tackles, one sack, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 12 pass breakups, and five interceptions in 44 games played in his career.
