PROVO, Utah – The latest BYU football depth chart is out for this week’s game against Iowa State.
BYU is facing Iowa State for the first time since 1974. Iowa State is 4-0 all-time against BYU.
Quarterback depth remains unchanged
The pecking order at quarterback for BYU on its official depth chart remains unchanged for Iowa State week. Kedon Slovis is still listed as the No. 1 quarterback, with Jake Retzlaff behind him and Cade Fennegan at No. 3.
Jake Retzlaff started last week against West Virginia, throwing for 210 yards and completing 24 of his 42 pass attempts.
Kedon Slovis is dealing with a shoulder injury and elbow pain that kept him sidelined last week against the Mountaineers. If he’s cleared to play this week, there will be competition to regain the No. 1 spot again, according to head coach Kalani Sitake.
“Well, everybody that’s coming off an injury, they don’t just jump into a starting role. You have to earn the right to get that back,” Sitake said.
One change to the depth chart
There was only one slight change to BYU’s official depth chart this week for the upcoming matchup against Iowa State. That was at the running back position as BYU placed Aidan Robbins at the top of group with an OR next to LJ Martin.
Martin was cleared to play last week but never took a snap in the 37-7 loss to West Virginia. The true freshman from El Paso, Texas, has missed the previous two games.
