Big 12 Power Rankings: BYU Tumbles, Oklahoma State Making Case For No. 1

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – As we enter week ten of the college football season, it’s time for another installment of Big 12 power rankings.

Every week, KSL Sports Zone host Alex Kirry and I drop our Big 12 power rankings on our radio show, “First & 12.”

It airs Sundays at 10 a.m. until Noon, then re-airs from 3-5 p.m. on KSL NewsRadio and the KSL Sports Zone.

Oklahoma State was the big winner this weekend as the Pokes sent the Sooners with a loss in the final playing of Bedlam as Big 12 foes. Like many great Mike Gundy teams in Stillwater, the Pokes have star power at all the skill positions. They might have the best resume to date in Big 12 play. There’s an argument for Oklahoma State being No. 1 in these rankings.

The only team holding off Oklahoma State from the top spot is Texas. You saw the talent of Texas shine again early against K-State as they jumped out to a big lead. Kansas State looked like they were going to get boat raced out of Austin, but they put up a valiant comeback effort. The Longhorns will be the only team that K-State coach Chris Klieman has not defeated.

It didn’t draw the headlines like the other two games, but Kansas got an underrated win in Ames to take down Iowa State with Jason Bean once again at quarterback.

West Virginia sent a statement to BYU that this isn’t the November schedule the Cougars were used to during Independence. The Mountaineers thumped BYU in all three phases of the game.
