MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – For the first time this season, BYU started a quarterback that wasn’t Kedon Slovis.
Slovis is dealing with a shoulder injury and elbow pain that sidelined him on Saturday night for BYU’s loss to West Virginia.

The former Pitt quarterback was a big topic for West Virginia fans this week. Despite Slovis being banged up and not playing, West Virginia students shared some choice words similar to the one Slovis said last year about the Mountaineers.
The question now for Slovis is when does he come back?
Kedon Slovis is “day-to-day”
BYU coach Kalani Sitake provided an update on Kedon Slovis after Saturday’s 37-7 loss to the Mountaineers.
“Kedon’s been playing banged up for a little bit now,” said Sitake. “The Texas game kind of put him in some danger. In the competition between him and Jake, Jake was 100% and he’s healthy and good to go and we saved his redshirt year. You know what I mean? So the competition will still happen. For Kedon, it’s a day-to-day, week-to-week type of deal.”

Who starts next week at quarterback for BYU Football?
So who gets the start next week against Iowa State, Kedon Slovis or Jake Retzlaff?
“We’ll play the best guy,” Sitake said. “If someone’s injured and they can play at a high level, then that’s what we go with. If not, we’ll play the healthy guy that can go and we have a number of players, not just quarterback, but other positions that can contribute and help us win.”
