The league’s top two defenses lived up to their billing on Saturday and the Aggies and Rams battled into the 78th minute before Aggie freshman forward Kate Christian found the back of the net for what would turn out to be the only goal of the match. Tess Werts got the assist for Utah State.
Opponents have scored just one goal against Utah State in its last six matches. The Aggies defense limited CSU to two first-half shots, outshooting the Rams 13-5 for the match.
After earning the MW automatic bid, Utah State will appear in the NCAA tournament for the third time.
