Former BYU RB Scores Early Touchdown For Lions

SALT LAKE CITY – Former BYU and current Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams powered up the middle for an early touchdown against the Miami Dolphins.
The Lions hosted the Dolphins at Ford Field on Sunday, October 30.
With 12:59 left in the first quarter, Williams ran past the line of scrimmage for seven yards and six points.
The former BYU star’s score gave Detroit a 7-0 lead.

The touchdown run capped a five-play, 75-yard drive that took 2:01.
On Detroit’s first possession, Williams had one carry for seven yards and a touchdown. He also had one reception for 10 yards.
Entering the Week 8 contest, the running back had 92 rushes for 411 yards and six touchdowns in six games this season. During his NFL career, Williams has carried the ball 745 times for 2,997 yards, and 19 touchdowns. He’s also recorded 154 catches for 1,152 yards and eight touchdowns.

About Jamaal Williams
Before his time in the NFL, Williams was a star at BYU. He finished his time in Provo as the Cougars’ all-time leading rusher in both career and single-yard yards.
During his time at BYU (2012-14, 2016), Williams ran the ball 726 times for 3,901 yards and 35 touchdowns. He also had 60 receptions for 567 yards and a touchdown. Williams only lost two fumbles during his college career.
Following his time at BYU, the Southern California native was selected by the Green Bay Packers during the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He played the first four seasons of his professional career with the Packers before signing with Lions in 2021.

Williams is currently in his six NFL season and second with the Lions.
Williams and the Lions currently own a 1-5 record.
