SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz hit clutch threes late in the fourth quarter and beat the Memphis Grizzlies 124-123.

Lauri Markannen and Kelly Olynyk had 23 points each, while Clarkson added 21 in the win.

With the victory the Jazz moved to 5-2 on the season.

First Quarter

The Jazz jumped out to a quick start thanks to a 10-0 run giving them a 17-9 lead with 6:50 left in the first quarter.

However, the Grizzlies countered with an 18-2 run over the next five minutes to build a 27-19 lead thanks to the strong play from Dillon Brooks who led all first quarter scorers with 12 points.

Jordan Clarkson led the Jazz with seven points while Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton scored five points apiece.

After one the Jazz trailed Memphis 30-24.

Second Quarter

The Jazz got a strong defensive effort from their second unit and paid it off with three made threes to open the second quarter.

While the Grizzlies shot a strong 55 percent from the floor in the second quarter, the Jazz caught fire knocking down 71 percent of their field goals including 54 percent of their threes.

At the half the Jazz were led by Sexton and Nickeil Alexander-Walker who had 11 points each.

The Jazz led the Grizzlies 62-54.

Third Quarter

The Jazz pushed their lead to nine at 79-70 in the opening minutes of the third quarter but Memphis answered with a 15-0 run.

Alexander-Walker subbed into the game late in the third quarter and gave the Jazz a boost with his on-ball defense creating easy baskets in transition.

The Jazz countered Memphis by closing with a 16-6 run over the final four minutes of the quarter to take a 95-91 lead after three.

Fourth Quarter

The Jazz struggled to score to open the fourth quarter, giving up a 12-2 run to Memphis with Markkanen and Sexton off the floor.

However, Jordan Clarkson took over the game with his playmaking down the stretch finding open shooters as the Jazz retook the lead in the final minute of the game.

The sixth-man-turned-starter had four assists in the fourth quarter to give the Jazz their fifth victory of the season.

The Jazz downed the Grizzlies 124-123.
