No. 23 Wasatch Stings No. 10 Woods Cross In First Round Upset

SALT LAKE CITY – The Wasatch Wasps snuck past the Woods Cross Wildcats for an upset victory on the road.
No. 23 Wasatch 28 @ No. 10 Woods Cross 27
After trailing by seven pionts following the first quarter, the Wasps outscored the Wildcats 21-7 during the second quarter. Wasatch added another touchdown during the third quarter to take a double-digit lead into the final 12 minutes. Woods Cross scored 13 points in the fourth quarter. A missed PAT on the Wildcats final score proved to be the difference in the game.Mack Kelson and Chris Cook each scored two touchdowns for the Wasps.
Wasatch will battle No. 7 Spanish Fork on Friday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. MT.

5A First Round Matchups
No. 17 Timpanogos 14 @ No. 16 Park City 35
The No. 16 Park City Miners took down the No. 17 Timpanogos Timberwolves on Friday, 35-14. Park City used a 28-point first half to cruise to victory.
Park City will face No. 1 Lehi on Friday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. MT.

No. 24 Highland 14 @ No. 9 Box Elder 21
The Box Elder Bees fought off the Highland Rams in the first round, 21-14. Despite getting shut out in the second half, the Bees used a big first half to fly to victory. Ryan Griffin threw two touchdowns in the Bees’ win.
Box Elder will battle No. 8 Provo on Friday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. MT.
No. 20 Viewmont 34 @ No. 13 Cedar Valley 52
The Cedar Valley Aviators flew past the Viewmont Vikings on Friday, 52-34. The Aviators scored 38 points in the second half to pull out the big win. Cedar Valley’s Cooper Thomson tossed four touchdown passes.
Cedar Valley will square off with No. 4 Stansbury on Friday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. MT.
No. 18 Skyline 28 @ No. 15 East 70
Tucker McCormick threw two touchdown passes for East in their blowout win over Skyline. He connected with Kevin Doe and Michael Fonua. Jared Fredrick had a kick return for a touchdown, while both Omar Shah and John Amone each recorded a pick-six. Michael Fonua led the rushing attack with two touchdowns. Jerrick Little, John Amone, and Omar Shah each added one rushing score. For Skyline, Miles J. Parker had a rushing TD, one passing touchdown, and a receiving score. Josh Calvert had two passing touchdowns. Parker, Porter Brockman, and Luke Wright each caught a touchdown.
East will face No. 2 Timpview on Friday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. MT.
No. 19 Alta 42 @ No. 14 Bonneville 14
A minor upset at Washington Terrance as Alta tops Bonneville on the road to advance to the second round. Matt McKea threw for five touchdowns and one rushing score. He found Noah Flores three times and Jace Turner twice. For Bonneville, Jaxon Johnson threw a touchdown pass to Hunter Davis. Isaac Mansaray had a 99-yard kick return for a touchdown.
Alta will square off with No. 3 Springville on Friday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. MT.
No. 22 Uintah 12 @ No. 11 Orem 61
The Orem Tigers crushed the Uintah Utes in the first round, 61-12. The Tigers shut out the Utes in the second half while Orem scored at least 10 points in every quarter. Roger Saleapaga led Orem with three total touchdowns.
Orem will square off with No. 6 Bountiful on Friday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. MT.
