SALT LAKE CITY – Real Salt Lake television broadcasters David James and Brian Dunseth have called their final game together following the 1-1 road draw against LA Galaxy.

This weekend marks the final regular season game of the 2022 season. If RSL can beat Portland Timbers they will secure a playoff position, the stakes have never been higher this year.

As a result, the RSL versus Portland fixture has been picked up by ESPN 2 and will not be available to local viewers hoping in listening to James and Dunseth.

“I think that we both want to thank the fans,” James said in a recent social media post. “There has been a lot of hilarious interaction on social media.”

The duo also thanked the Vice President of Marketing and Game Presentation, Tyler Gibbons, Director of Communications, Trey Fitz-Gerald, and Producer/Director Kenny Neale, among others.

For 18 years Real Salt Lake has provided free broadcasts to the local fanbase. This past season, Real Salt Lake was the only club in Major League Soccer that provided a free service via broadcast, streaming, and radio to the fanbase.

“To my TV family behind the scenes and watching through the screen – Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Dunseth tweeted.

Incoming Apple TV

Next year will mark the debut of Apple’s new streaming service for MLS fans across the country, and although there is still a chance that James and Dunseth find themselves in the same booth as one another, there has been no announcement regarding how Apple intends on utilizing broadcast talent.

Apple signed a 10-year broadcast partnership with MLS that will provide MLS fans across the country an opportunity to stream every MLS match through the Apple TV app without any blackouts or restrictions.

Timbers Vs. RSL Match Info

Real Salt Lake will play its final game of the 2022 regular season at home on Sunday, October 9 when they host Portland Timbers.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will be available to watch via ESPN 2.
