SALT LAKE CITY – The Las Vegas Raiders will waive former Utah Utes cornerback Javelin Guidry in a corresponding move from a trade between the Raiders and Patriots.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Raiders are acquiring Patriots offensive tackle Justin Herron. That led to the Raiders waiving Guidry in order to clear a roster spot for Herron.
If Guidry is not claimed, the Raiders will sign him to the practice squad and could be activated on game-day.

The Raiders announced the addition of Guidry on Monday, September 12.
After the transaction, Las Vegas became Guidry’s third NFL team in the past two weeks. He was first waived by the New York Jets on August 29. A day later, he was claimed by the Cardinals. Guidry didn’t play in Arizona’s opener on September 11 and claimed by the Raiders a day after Las Vegas fell to the Los Angeles Chargers in its first game. The Cardinals were blown out by the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1, 44-21.
After playing at the University of Utah from 2017-19, Guidry went undrafted in 2020. He joined the Jets as an undrafted free agent.
In 2021, Guidry had 48 total tackles, 33 solo tackles, and three pass breakups. During his two seasons in the league, the former Ute has recorded 70 total tackles, 48 solo tackles, four forced fumbles, and three pass breakups in 28 games. Guidry and the Jets finished the 2021 season with a 4-13 record.
Prior to the start of free agency in March, the Jets exercised exclusive rights on Guidry to prevent him from becoming a free agent. Following the preseason, New York let go of Guidry and he was picked up by Arizona. Guidry was only a member of the Cardinals for two weeks.
The Raiders are currently 0-2 on the season after falling to the Los Angeles Chargers and Arizona Cardinals. They will travel to Tennessee to face the Titans on Sunday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. MT on FOX.
