PROVO, Utah – Former Heisman Winner, NFL QB Robert Griffin III is in Provo for Saturday night’s BYU/Baylor game.
The Baylor legend is on the call to see his alma mater take on No. 21 BYU at LaVell Edwards Stadium. RGIII is the analyst for ESPN’s broadcast of BYU/Baylor, alongside play-by-play voice Mark Jones.
Griffin is in his second year as a broadcaster for ESPN; it’s his first call in Provo. So naturally, he wanted to see the sights. Griffin asked social media for some recommendations in Provo.
In Provo, Utah for @BYUfootball ‘s Home Opener against @BUFootball and it’s time to explore what the city has to offer.

Best food spots?
Places to go see?
Free Ice Cream at the stadium?
How do I get a ROC Pass?— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) September 9, 2022
RGIII asked, “Best food spots? Places to go see? Free Ice Cream at the stadium? How do I get a ROC Pass?”
OK, RGIII has done his homework on the BYU football tradition of free ice cream for opposing fans at the stadium. Stadium ambassadors at LaVell Edwards Stadium always give the road contingent of fans, typically in the Northwest corner of LES, free cups of ice cream. Of course, being a media member, Griffin will have the chance at some pregame cookies and a free meal from Tucanos.
At halftime, the media will have a rush to more cookies; it always happens, I swear.
Robert Griffin III hit up Bam Bam’s BBQ
Regarding food spots, BYU isn’t known for its unique restaurants. There are a few. Most notably, Bam Bams BBQ. And that’s apparently where the former Heisman Trophy winner ended up.
Showing this Texas raised, Baylor Bear how we do BBQ here in the good ole state of Utah… Good to have you @RGIII! @BamBamsBBQ @BUFootball @BYUfootball @JimmyRex pic.twitter.com/79chO8pFKr

Bam Bam’s BBQ partner and BYU donor Scott Warner showed the former No. 2 overall NFL draft pick what BBQ in Provo has to offer. Of course, that’s a risky move because BBQ in central Texas is on another level.
RGIII was served up the Bam Bam’s special, a plate of swachos. Maybe we’ll hear a review of his Bam Bam’s Provo experience during the broadcast on Saturday night.
