Two Locals Land On NFL 53-Man Roster, Practice Squad

SALT LAKE CITY – Two locals with ties to the state of Utah have landed on a 53-man roster and a practice squad in the NFL as Week 1 approaches.
Former Utah All-American linebacker Chase Hansen was called up to the New Orleans Saints 53-man roster and former Utah State LB Kyler Fackrell joined the Baltimore Ravens practice squad.

Chase Hansen Joins Saints 53-Man Roster
After a successful career at the University of Utah, Hansen signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. During his two seasons in New Orleans, Hansen was battling injuries but was able to play in five games and two playoff games. In the regular season, Hansen played 96 snaps on special teams and two snaps on defense, recording one tackle.
The two playoff games Hansen appeared in was during the 2020-21 season when the Saints beat the Chicago Bears, Hansen had 12 special team snaps and one tackle. In their loss to Tampa Bay, Hansen played 14 snaps on special teams.
Before going to the NFL, Hansen played four seasons for the Utes. In 2015, Hansen was in his first season after returning from his two-year church mission and was a quarterback. He appeared in four games. During the next two seasons, Hansen moved to the defensive side of the ball as a safety. As a senior in 2018, he moved to linebacker and thrived, finishing with 114 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, one defensive touchdown, one fumble recovery, and four pass deflections.
The Saints begin the 2022 season on the road against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. MT on FOX.
Kyler Fackrell Added To Ravens Practice Squad
Fackrell has enjoyed a nice career in the NFL. The former Utah State star was taken in the third round with the 88th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. Fackrell spent the first four seasons of his career with the Packers, playing in 61 games with nine starts. He recorded 111 tackles, 21 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, one pass deflection, and a forced fumble.
In 2020, Fackrell signed with the New York Giants where he played in 12 games with nine starts, finishing with a pick-six, two pass deflections, one forced fumble, 34 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and four sacks.
This past season, Fackrell was with the Los Angeles Chargers and appeared in 13 games with one start. The former Aggie ended the season with 17 tackles, four tackles for loss, three sacks, one pass deflection, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
