SALT LAKE CITY- Utah versus Florida easily lived up to its potential for being a really good game. Yes, those who pull for the Utes might be a little sad they came up short 29-26, but it is still clear Utah did enough to impress the Florida faithful and even earn a little respect.
Ultimately, respect and more overall brand awareness is exactly what Utah needs at this conjecture of their journey to becoming a part of college football’s elite and so from that standpoint their trip to Gainesville was a big win. As most know, the Pac-12 does not typically get respect for being “tough”, but the Utes have been able to change some hearts recently in the Big 10 with their close loss to Ohio State in the Rose Bowl and now Florida in the heart of SEC country. Both conferences are deemed the gold standard of college football as it stands today, and making a solid impression that you can hang with their style of play can’t hurt in the world of conference realignment.
Taking a look around Twitter has been fun the past few days. Here is what is being said about the Utah versus Florida game.
Gator Nation Is Impressed
That was a legit team the rolled into the Swamp tonight. #7 and 80 were as advertised. I’ve been going to the swamp for 30+ years and that was one of the best games I’ve ever witnessed.

Via @BodkinKSLsports. I couldn't describe last night better. The Utes could run the table after a close loss last night. Go Gators! pic.twitter.com/sL9KyeeqgA

It was electric in the Swamp. The Utes embraced it, traveling across the country with more fans than I’ve seen before. More than Bama last year. The game could have gone either way going down to the last play. Instant Classic! We get to do it next year in SLC!

Utah was DEEP yo! I’ve been to games in the swamp vs teams closer that didn’t come that deep! #respect

In all seriousness, while watching from the sidelines, it seemed as if Florida had a distinct size advantage, however @Utah_Football under @UtahCoachWhitt plays incredible technique, has top level speed, and is very disciplined. Y’all run the table and you have to be in the #CFP

And without a doubt the loudest away crowd I’ve ever heard https://t.co/XVnh0xsJHx

Anticipating Next Year’s Game In Salt Lake
I plan on experiencing that next year! I’ve heard Rice-Eccles is one of the best places to see a game in the PAC 12.

I absolutely agree about the number and loudness of the Utah fans. How hard will it be for Gator fans to get tickets to the game next year? I know a lot of us are planning to go
— Randy Graetz (@gatorgraetz) September 5, 2022
We’re already planning the trip with a big group. It wouldn’t be a disaster if we just tailgated and did the tourist thing. Looks absolutely beautiful out there.
— Randy Graetz (@gatorgraetz) September 5, 2022
I plan to be there!

Thanks for stopping by the swamp. See y’all in Utah next year. https://t.co/sZ8tXXBOsE

Hope you had a good trip. See you in SLC next year!

I won’t start talking about next year’s game for awhile but I am looking forward to returning to SLC, been once before on business. Beautiful place to fly into. I will say that Billy Napier will have a plan to prepare the Gators for the altitude as Whitt had for the humidity
