SALT LAKE CITY – Five days before the season opener against UConn, the Aggies released new uniforms with a nod toward one of the most successful periods in program history.
Entering his second season leading the Utah State program, head coach Blake Anderson announced the new uniforms on social media.

By adding a pair of Aggie blue stripes to each shoulder, Utah State remembers teams led by Aggie great Merlin Olsen who played in Logan 1959-61.
Season Opener
The Aggies open their 125th season of football at home against the Connecticut Huskies with a 2:05 p.m. (MST) kickoff on Saturday, August 27.
UConn comes to Logan for the first time after finishing 2021 1-11. The two programs played their only previous game, a 38-31 Aggie win, on November 1, 2001 in Storrs, Connecticut. Emmett White gained 117 yards rushing for the Aggies and scored two touchdowns. Quarterback Jose Fuentes finished 20-of-31 passing for 234 yards and three touchdowns.
This is the earliest season opener and will be just the 13th August game in program history. USU is 1-11 (.083) in its previous 12 outings, with its lone win being a 34-3 home victory against Southern Utah in 2012.

Saturday’s game will mark the first time since 2016 that the Aggies will open the season at home and just the 15th time since 1959. The Aggies have won each of their previous three home openers and are 9-5 when beginning the season at home. The Aggies are riding a 12-game winning streak against non-conference opponents at Maverik Stadium.
Coming off of an 11-3 2021, Utah State picked up votes in two national preseason polls. The Aggies received 12 votes in the Coaches’ Poll, tied for 38th; and two votes is the Associated Press poll. This is the first time since 2019 that the Aggies have received preseason recognition in the polls.
Every Utah State football game can be heard on the KSL Sports Zone with Scott Garrard and former Aggie quarterback Kevin White on the call.
