13 Utes Get Pac-12 All-Conference Recognition

SALT LAKE CITY- 13 Utes got Pac-12 All-Conference recognition as picked by the media just days away from Pac-12 Media Day. Six Utes made the first team, three Utes made the second team, and four Utes were honorable mentions ahead of what many think will be a big 2022 football season for the reigning Pac-12 Champs.
The preseason All-Pac-12 team has officially been announced.

First Team All-Conference Utes
Utah had six players make the first team list Tuesday afternoon. Running back Tavion Thomas, tight end Brant Kuithe, offensive lineman Braeden Daniels, defensive end Van Fillinger, cornerback Clark Phillips III, and safety Cole Bishop made the Pac-12 Conference’s preseason list as some of the top contenders of the 2022 season. Phillips III will be on hand at Pac-12 Media Day later in the week.

Second Team All-Conference Utes
Quarterback Cam Rising, offensive lineman Sataoa Luamea, and defensive tackle Junior Tafuna all appear on the Pac-12’s second team list. Rising ended 2021 as the All-Pac-12 First Team quarterback after leading the Utes to their first even Pac-12 Title and Rose Bowl appearance. Rising will also be on hand for Friday’s media day.
Honorable Mention Utes
Tight end Dalton Kincaid, wide receiver Devaugn Vele, linebacker Mohamoud Diabate, and cornerback JaTravis Broughton all received honor mention nods from the Pac-12 ahead of the 2022 football season for Utah.
On Their Heels
USC wasn’t about to be left in the dust, also placing six players of their own on the All-Pac-12 First Team. Transfer quarterback Caleb Williams took the quarterback honors, with fellow teammates in wide receivers Mario Williams and Jordan Addison, along with offensive lineman Andrew Vorhees, defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu, and running back Travis Dye also making the cut.
The Trojans also placed three players in running back Travis Dye, offensive Brett Neilson, defensive back Mekhi Blackmon, and return specialist Gary Bryant Jr. on the Second Team.
USC finished up with six honorable mentions.
It’s largely believe Utah and USC will be the two best teams in the Pac-12 in 2022 and that the Pac-12 Championship will likely get a preview when the two teams meet in Salt Lake City on October 15th.
