Tony Finau Misses Cut Following Second Round Struggles At US Open

SALT LAKE CITY – Tony Finau missed the cut at the US Open on Friday afternoon after he struggled during second round action at The Country Club in Brookline, MA.
It was a rough two days for Tony Finau at the US Open. He started the tournament at +3 on Thursday before having another tough day on the course on Friday, finishing with a +2, 72 score.
The cut line was at +3, which left Finau two shots back of playing the championship rounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Tony Finau At The US Open
On Thursday, Finau started the tournament with three straight pars before getting a bogey on No. 4. Then he picked up par on the next three holes before his first birdie of the round on the eighth hole. Finau finished the front-nine with a par to go even-par, heading into the back-nine.
The Utah native started the back-nine with a bogey, followed by a par and a birdie on No. 11 and 12 respectively. On the 13th and 14th hole, Finau shot a par on each. The last four holes were a struggle for Finau, shooting bogey on three of the four holes with one hole picking up a par. At the end of the first round, Finau had two birdies, 11 pars and five bogeys.
Finau had a much better start in the second round, picking up seven straight pars before ending the front-nine with back-to-back bogeys. Matters got worse on the 10th hole when Finau shot a double-bogey. He rebounded with three straight pars and a birdie on No. 14. Finau ended the round with par on the 15th and 16th hole, birdie on No. 17 and par on the 18th hole.
He finished the round with two birdies, 13 pars, two bogeys and one double-bogey. For the tournament, Finau recorded four birdies, 24 pars, seven bogeys and one double-bogey.
