Jazz Lock Up Fifth Seed With Win Over Blazers

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz ended the regular season with a 111-80 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.
With the victory, the Jazz finished the year with the fifth seed in the Western Conference and will face the Dallas Mavericks on the road to open the playoffs.
Juancho Hernangomez scored 22 points to lead the Jazz.
First Quarter
The Jazz jumped out to a 9-4 run to open the game, but the Trail Blazers answered with an 11-2 run to retake the lead 15-11.
Without Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic in the lineup the Jazz struggled to score the ball shooting just 19 percent in the first quarter.

The Jazz shot 5-26 from the floor over the first 12 minutes of the game and missed all 14 of their three-point attempts.
After one the Jazz trailed the Blazers 19-16.
Second Quarter
After 17 misses to open the game Jared Butler knocked down the Jazz’s first three-pointer which opened the rim for the team’s other shooters.
The Jazz shot 4-11 from three in the quarter and outscored the Trail Blazers 36-21.

Mike Conley scored all nine of his points in the second quarter to match Rudy Gobert as the Jaz leading scorer.
At the break, the Jazz led the Blazers 52-40.
Third Quarter
The Blazers hung with the Jazz through the first six minutes of the third quarter, but Juancho Hernangomez went on a personal 9-0 run to build the Jazz lead to 17 with the Jazz starters resting.
Through three quarters, Hernangomez had 16 points to lead the Jazz while Gobert had 12.

The Jazz outscored Portland 26-16 in the quarter.
After three, the Jazz led the Blazers 78-56.
Fourth Quarter
The Jazz extended their fourth quarter lead to 30 and coasted to an easy win to close the regular season.
Quin Snyder was able to go to his reserves over the final six minutes of the game to avoid injury late in an already-decided game.

Hernangomez finished with 22 points to lead the Jazz.
The Jazz closed the year with a 111-80 over the Trail Blazers.
