Utah Warriors Drop Third Straight Game In Loss To San Diego Legion
HERRIMAN, Utah – The Utah Warriors got off to a slow start and couldn’t rebound as they fell to the San Diego Legion 40-25 at home on Friday night.
In what was considered a “must win game” from Utah Warriors head coach Shawn Pittman but the San Diego Legion showed urgency and had a strong defensive performance.
Utah Warriors Stall In Loss To San Diego Legion
In the fourth minute, the Warriors won a scrum and decided to kick for three points and converted. Three minutes later, the Legion nailed a kick to tie the game at three. In the 14th minute, San Diego attempted another kick to try and take the lead but couldn’t get it to go through the uprights.
The Warriors took the lead back with they got a penalty goal in the 19th minute and held a 6-3 advantage. The first try of the game came from San Diego in the 21st minute. After the conversion, the Legion had a 10-6 lead.
They added to that lead with another try in the 28th minute. San Diego made the conversion and was up 17-6. Three minutes later, the Legion got into the try zone once again and made the conversion to take a 24-6 lead in the 32nd minute. Utah was in need of a try and they got it in the 37th minute. The Warriors missed the conversion, putting the Legion lead to 24-11.
One minute into the second half and San Diego got a try and conversion to extend their lead to 31-11. The Warriors started their comeback attempt in the 59th minute with a try and conversion. San Diego’s lead was cut to 34-18.
But the lead got bigger after San Diego nailed a kick to extend their lead to 37-18 in the 67th minute. Tyler Fisher got his second try of the game for the Warriors. After the successful conversion, San Diego had a 37-25 lead in the 74th minute.
San Diego put the game away with another successful kick to put their lead to 40-25 with two minutes remaining.
The Warriors dropped their record to 2-6-0 on the season. They will have a bye this week before going on the road to face Old Glory DC on Friday, April 15 at 6 p.m. MT on KSLSports.com, KSL TV app or the KSL Sports app.
